ABOUT
A selection of new studio work created over the last year, Subtle Transitions represents a range of Anthony Garcia's bold and graphic abstract work. From familiar to experimental (plus a few collaborative surprises in the mix), this joyous collection reveals a sharp mastery of technique and color theory honed over years of painting walls and canvases throughout Denver and beyond. While paying homage to the past, Subtle Transitions marks a creative shift and expansion forward from the artist’s well-known zarape-inspired designs to new ideas, forms, dimensions, and interactive spaces. From simple to complex, it’s a visionary flex - in essence, the artist at his best.
BIO
Anthony Garcia, Sr. is a self-taught muralist/fine artist, curator, and Denver Northsider to the core. His vivid, often geometric abstract paintings can be seen on many public and private walls locally and nationally. While honoring his own heritage with zarape-inspired designs, Anthony’s work is futuristic and multicultural in scope, always seeking new collaborations, processes, and platforms for representing his multidimensional approach to life. In addition to his artistic work, Garcia is a leader of his community as founder of arts- and community-based non-profit Birdseed Collective and co-founder/co-curator of Alto Gallery. When he’s not on the grind, Anthony enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and showing support for his fellow creatives.
